In 2015, over one million asylum seekers made their way towards Western Europe by sea, resulting in the largest refugee crisis in Europe since World War II.This report aims at gaining a better understanding of the specific needs, priorities and risk factors women and girls face on the migration routes. It also highlights whether humanitarian response in Serbia and FYR Macedonia is meeting those needs and addressing female migrants’ special vulnerabilities.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
