The Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of Undocumented Migrants: Narrowing the Gap between Their Rights and the Reality in the EU

10.05.2016 / Created by (EMWF)

This study focuses on the sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) for undocumented migrants in the European Union. It highlights the challenges women migrants face while accessing SRHR services, such as: disproportionately high maternal and infant mortality; limited access to contraception and pregnancy termination; heightened levels of discrimination and gender-based violence (particularly among women and LGBTI migrants and migrant sex workers) at the border, in transit and in detention centres. It addresses service providers and policy makers in order to reform legislation and policies that deny or limit access to sexual and reproductive health services on the basis of residence status, improving though the quality of these services.
