This report is one of the outcomes of the program ‘’Towards a Democratic Transition in Syria by Building an Inclusive Constitution Process´´, which aims for a non-violent, political transition in Syria. It integrates the results of various events, gatherings and conferences organized in Syria and it draws attention to the challenges and highlights good practices related to the institutionalization of women’s rights and gender equality principles and values in the constitution. It also emphasizes the efforts of women’s movements to include and/or preserve women’s rights and gender equality as founding principles in democratic constitutions, and as core issues in times of transition.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
