This report forms part of a project to strengthen women’s public voice in Egypt, Libya, and Yemen. It is based on consultations with over 400 women and men from these countries.The report examines the new opportunities for women´s activism, as well as the increased risk and backlash against women´s political participation, during the transitions following the 2011 uprisings. It focuses on the ways in which security concerns associated with such volatile environment could impact women’s ability to participate, as well as the ways in which women’s participation can affect their security
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
