After the uprisings in Egypt started in 2011, a lot of attention was drawn to violence against women, due to the occurrence of various assaults on women, including sexual harassment during the protests.This reportfocuses on violence against women in Egypt and its effects on women´s health. It highlights the national-level and grassroots efforts to fight against gender-based violence in the country. It also explains the role of health care systems in supporting women who have experienced domestic violence. Finally, the report describes the efforts Egypt needs to combat all forms of violence against women in public and private spheres.
