This set of papers was presented during two panel discussions at the Wilson Center for Scholars, by many experts on the topic “Can International Human Rights Norms Secure Women’s Rights in the MENA Region?”. The papers questions themes such as the role of women’s Human Rights norms in transitional justice, international Conventions and women’s protection, barriers to women’s political participations and the necessity of lifting the reservations on the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) in many Arab countries.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
