This report, which includes opinions written by many female experts from the MENA region and other places in the world, highlights the advance in women´s right in the MENA region, 20 years after the Beijing declaration and platform of action. Precisely it coincides with the 15th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 that calls for women’s leadership in conflict resolution and peacekeeping and the eve of the Post-2015 Millennium Development Goals.It also focuses on the obstacles women are still facing in these regions, especially after 2011 and the complex and difficult situation they are living, due to the unrest and various conflicts in the region.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
