This study provides an analysis of the achievements and obstacles facing the implementation of the Beijing declaration and platform of action (1995) in Mauritania.It highlights the most significant achievements in promoting gender equality since 1995. It explains the government´s different policies and strategies to enhance women´s rights and political participation. The study also provides data, statistics and indicators about the different areas of implementation, such as: poverty, education, health, violence against women, women and armed conflict, economy, decision making…etc.Finally it explains the importance of cooperation and the role of civil society in the promotion of women rights in Mauritania.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
