This paper examines the gaps and observations, related to the National Strategy for the Elimination of Violence against Women (NSVAW), adopted by the Egyptian government, particularly with regard to its failure in taking the feminist perspective into consideration, or involving feminist groups that are capable of providing a feminist discourse which addresses gender issues and strategies. It questions how different NSVAW, as a strategy for dealing violence against women both in the private and public spheres, would be if it could incorporate a gender-perspective and a feminist discourse in terms of its objective, tools and implementation policies.
