This report was prepared based on the importance of involving men in combating violence against women and gender based violence, since in Arab societies, men still have the power in family, institutions and politics and on the level of communities. This guide addresses male decision-makers in the most important institutions and sectors, like: politics, judiciary and the legal professions, police and clergy, in order to influence their attitudes, behaviour and practices concerning the issue of violence against women. The guide aims to be a working tool to help NGOs, civil society workers, other activists and actors in the field of gender, in order to influence the decision-making process and to encourage men in the former sectors to give the issues of violence against women a priority in their work. Furthermore the guide aims to change and adjust laws in order to achieve full protection of women against gender based violence.
