Although the official data and reports indicate that the contribution of women in the labour force in Egypt does not exceed 22% and that this ratio is among the lowest in the world, these statistics do not take into consideration the issue of domestic work. Indeed they often exclude domestic unpaid work and doesn´t consider it a labour market´s economic activity. The study aims to re-evaluate the value of the actual contribution of women in economic activity in Egypt, by measuring and estimating their domestic work hours. The study aims to shed light on the true role of women in the Egyptian economy, to empowerthose women and enhance their status and their role in the decision-making process.
