A Revolution for all: Women's rights in the new Libya

After the overthrow of the regime of Gaddafi and 42 years of dictatorship, Libyans are having the challenge of a democratic change. The stakes are high especially for Libyan women, who actively participated in the uprising and demonstrated great potential and power. However, they still have a long way to go. This report presents some key issues that Libya should address to help secure women´s rights such as: women´s political participation, a constitution that protects Human Rights, equality with respect to Personal Status Law, the elimination of all kinds violence against women…etc.
