Despite the progress made in women’s education in Jordan and the decrease of the gender gap in education, women´s labour force participation rate is still very low. Indeed, a big gender gap in labour force still persists and women´s skills and qualifications are not utilised to their full extent.This study discusses the obstacles and chances of women´s participation in labour force, the policies and measures adopted by the State and the stakeholders to enhance women´s opportunities in education, training and employment.The study concentrates on formal employment in private sector, namely tourism and information and communication technologies (ICT).
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
