Despite the political commitment of the Member States of the EU and the efforts to redress inequalities, many inequality still persists. The case of decision making is an example where women are still under-represented in leadership positions in political, economic and social areas across the EU. This report aims at monitoring EU progress towards gender equality within the EU policy framework. It looks at how member states fare in terms of gender equality in power and decision-making positions within bodies of public, economic and social power between 2003 and 2014. The report provides data, statistics and indicators, as well as recommendations of active measures and strategies to reach the goal of gender equalityin decision-making.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
