The strategy defines the different key actions to be implemented in five priority areas of the European Union: equal economic independence for women and men, equal pay for work of equal value, equality in decision-making, dignity, integrity and ending gender-based violence and promoting gender equality beyond the EU.This strategic engagement is built upon the evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the “Strategy for equality between women and men (2010-2015)”.It also emphasizes the need to integrate a gender equality in all EU´s policies, projects and funding programs.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
