This report proposes an agenda for key policy actors, in order to make human rights for women a lived reality. It focuses on the economic and social dimensions of gender equality, such as the right of all women to a good job, adequate pension in older age, health care and safe water without any kind of discrimination. The report emphasizes that economic and social policies can contribute to more sustainable and gender-equal societies, if they are designed and implemented with women’s rights in their centers. The report focuses on three priority areas: 1) generation of decent work for women; 2) gender-responsive social protection and social services; 3) enabling macroeconomic policies that prioritize investment in human beings and the fulfillment of social objectives.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
