Gender equality, heritage and creativity

This document offers a global overview of the status of gender equality in terms of access to, participation in and contribution to culture. The analysis is based on the UN reports and the General Assembly resolutions as well as the answers to a questionnaire sent to all UNESCO member states. The objective is to consolidate the research, statistics and case studies conducted in the field of culture and gender equality, with special emphasis on creativity and heritage in order to contribute to the international debates on the post-2015 agenda. It seeks to identify the progress achieved so far and issue recommendations to governments, policy-makers, the international community and civil society.
