This paper seeks to understand the evolution of dynamics on women’s rights and liberties in Tunisia because the role of women in the “Arab Spring” and the subsequent transition period was crucial. It focuses on gender policies in the country, before and after the revolution of January 2011, with specific references to the political context. It notably revises the legislation on gender equality in the light of the historical context.
