This plan aims to provide a detailed overview of the objectives for gender equality in the field of employment. It sets out new programmes on gender equality for the period 2009-2010 and reviews the progress made since 2005. Despite important efforts at a national level to introduce new policies aimed at improving women's employability in Malta and increase their participation in the labour market, this action plan emphasises the great disparities between men and women at employment and unemployment levels.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
