This act contains provisions aimed at implementing the gender equality policy. It was adopted by the Parliament on 23 July 2014 and it enacted on 4 August 2014. The measure concerns, among others, gender equality in professional life, women's portrayal in the media, the protection of people who have suffered violence, the fight against forced marriage, parity and gender equality in regional and local authorities.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
