This report illustrates the progress made in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the light of the impact of the world economic crisis and climate change. It provides detailed information on the process of these goals in the Arab region and emphasises the policies and actions necessary for the region to meet them. It should be noted that MDG 3 (Promote gender equality and empower women) and MDG 5 (Improve maternal health) are directly aimed at women while other MDGs such as 1 (Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger) and 2 (Achieve universal primary education) also concern them.
