This report presents the institutional framework for the promotion and protection of women's rights in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, notably the legal and administrative authorities responsible for ensuring that the country's commitments are respected. The second part reviews the institutional, legislative, administrative and judicial measures adopted by the government to improve the living conditions of Mauritanian women and foster a climate suitable for the enjoyment of all the rights included in the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
