This report examines the evolution of Portuguese legislation and policies in six priority areas of action in the European Roadmap for Equality between Women and Men (2006-2010). It shows that significant progress has been achieved in the acts and programmes for the promotion of gender equality. However, several obstacles to gender equality persist and there have been some drawbacks due to the financial crisis and austerity policies.
