This document features the conclusions of the Council of the European Union of 23 and 24 March 2006 during which the European Pact for Gender Equality was adopted. This Pact illustrates the commitment of EU member states to promoting women's employment and ensuring work and family life reconciliation. The Pact's measures mainly address the fight against a stereotyped conception of roles in the labour market and gender mainstreaming in the management of public affairs.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
