Regulation (EC) No 1922/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 2006 on establishing a European Institute for Gender Equality

Gender equality is a fundamental right provided for by the Treaty of Lisbon and an EU priority policy. This regulation, which came into force on 19 January 2007, officially created the European Institute for Gender Equality whose mission is to help European institutions and EU member states to integrate the principle of equality into their policies and fight against gender-based discrimination.
