This report studies women's rights in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (EMP). The first part identifies the legislation and practices related to women’s rights in this region. The second part introduces the social and civil initiatives to promote, at a local level, the status of women as well as the resistance faced by these movements advocating women’s rights. Finally, the third part provides recommendations for the EMP to further help improve women’s rights in the region.
