This study examines the situation of women in terms of illiteracy based on data collected in the Information and Daily Life survey (IVQ) 2004-2005, conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) in partnership with ANLCI. Illiteracy describes the situation of people who have been schooled in France but who cannot or can no longer read, write and calculate in very simple situations of daily life (for instance, understand a television programme, understand a weather forecast, and so on). The IVQ survey 2004-2005 has been carried out among a sample of 10,000 people.
