The National Women's Strategy addresses all the key fields concerning women, in keeping with the international commitments made by Ireland in the framework of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the Beijing Action Programme. This strategy is based on three main issues: equal socio-economic opportunities for women; women's well-being; and women's participation as equal and active citizens.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
