This report examines the Ireland's foreign aid policy in terms of gender equality established in 2004 with a view to supporting the achievement of equality as an essential component of sustainable human development. This foreign aid policy is based on two strategies: gender mainstreaming and direct support for equality programmes and women's empowerment. The report identifies the main challenges and progress in the implementation of the policy based on consultations with the personnel of the ministry and civil society organisations.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
