Struggling for gender equality: sharing Lithuanian and Bulgarian experience

10.08.2015 / Created by (EMWF)

In this case study, experts from Lithuania and Bulgaria explore laws on gender equality and domestic violence in their countries of origin. The authors provide a view of the situation before the adoption of these laws, focus on the phases of their adoption and assess the effects of their implementation. Indeed, although policies in favour of gender equality involve a society in which women and men enjoy the same opportunities, rights and obligations in all spheres of life, in reality, some questions persist, such as women’s discrimination in the labour market in Lithuania.
