The report offers an overview of the educational development in the Arab countries based on data issued by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics as well as the findings of several national surveys and studies promoted by UNESCO. It emphasizes the progress in achieving the Education for All (EFA) goals after the World Education Forum, held in Dakar in 2000. The report identifies the main challenges to meet the EFA's goals established for 2015, notably in terms of parity in the access to primary and secondary education.
