The Mediatisation of Women' s Political Participation in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia

05.06.2015 / Created by (EMWF)

This report was prepared in the framework of the project "Strengthening women' s leadership and participation in politics and decision-making in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia", which seeks to improve the status of women in order to strengthen their participation in political life. It proposes a comparative analysis of the media space in three Maghreb countries. The report emphasizes the relation between women taking part in political life and the media from two viewpoints: on the one hand, the portrayal of politically active women by the media and the access of these women to the media and, on the other, the capacity of politically active women to use communication to promote gender-related issues in the region.
