This report aims to study the contribution of women entrepreneurs to the economic and social development of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It assesses the existence of constraints on economic activity, particularly on women investors by analysing data from over 5,100 enterprises in the formal sector. The report provides an overview of the characteristics of enterprises in the region owned by women and it analyses the factors that can slow down the access of women to management positions in an enterprise.
