Women and Television in Maghreb: Improvement of Portrayal of Women on French-Speaking Maghreb Television Channels

05.06.2015 / Created by (EMWF)

The UNESCO Action Plan for gender equality foresees measures aimed at further integrating gender equality in the media and fighting against sexist stereotypes. From this point of view, this manual seeks to contribute a change in the treatment of women' s image in Maghreb television production by inviting TV professionals, decision-makers and producers to adopt a gender approach in the design and development of their products. The report addresses different issues such as the social responsibility of television as a facilitator of behavioural changes, violence against women on television channels in Maghreb and its effects at a psychosocial level.
