Every year since 2000, the Ministry of Women’s Rights and Equality between Women and Men at the General Directorate for Social Cohesion publishes a collection of statistical data in order to assess the role of women in society, at the political, economic and social levels. The 2010 edition features data on the percentage of women in the French population, life expectancy, fertility and women’s health. Comparisons with other countries are included throughout in order to evaluate better the position of France in the European Union concerning equality, access to rights and work/life balance.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
