This edition was published to mark the 15th anniversary of the 4th World Conference on Women. It features data on gender disparity in primary and secondary education according to the mandate of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, which aims to ensure that as many indicators as possible are disaggregated by sex and to develop indicators that better capture the schooling experience of girls and boys. The publication analyses the trends in educational participation and parity; links between gender inequalities, poverty and ethnic origin; learning and schooling conditions or key trends in higher education.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
