This guide is linked to the commitment of the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) to strengthen the progress of women and gender equality through a gender mainstreaming policy, consisting of integrating the gender dimension into all administrative and financial programmes and procedures. This policy also obliges the UNDP to enhance the capacities of the state to take into account gender in their national development policies. In order to provide guidelines to the UNDP administrators, this guide introduces the “Gender and Development” approach and offers information on the concrete implementation of the institutionalization of the gender approach in the development programmes and projects.
