This report summarizes the seminar “Gender and Women’s Economic Integration in Maghreb Countries”, held in Tunis from 5 to 7 October 2009. This seminar brought together 60 men and women experts in economy, development and gender equality to discuss several subjects, such as trade liberalization and its impact on gender equality, the progress of and obstacles to socio-economic insertion and female employment, the working conditions of women and their rights. The publication includes the papers presented in Tunis as well as a list of useful resources to explore in depth the topics addressed in the seminar.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
