This report examines the application of the Convention on the Elimination of all Types of violence against Women (CEDAW) in the Arab world. It consists of mini-reports that outline CEDAW' s progress and limits in 21 countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. Each mini-report lists the reservations made by the country and provides a summary of the official country reports submitted to the CEDAW Committee as well as the additional shadow reports written by NGOs. At the end of each mini-report, recent news and updates regarding CEDAW and the status of women’s rights in the country are discussed.
