This report presents the findings of the hearing held on 29 April 2008 by the Labour Market Observatory (LMO) of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on the issue "Women and the labour market". The hearing addressed the difficulties experienced by women in entering the labour market and analysed their weak participation in paid work. Thus, the hearing made it possible to collect statistical data and present the needs inherent to the different women populations (young women, single mothers, migrant women, elderly women or women with disabilities).
