Croatia joined the Community programme Gender Equality in 2006 signing a memorandum of understanding, which resulted in holdingan International Awareness Raising Conference about EU Policies and Legislation on Gender Equality held in Zagreb on 31 May 2007. The Conference proceedings include the speeches and addresses concerning the different aspects of the implementation of the EU acquis in the area of gender equality and provides examples of good practices in certain Member States. The Conference comprised 3 priority areas: comparison of EU and Croatian legislation, promotion of equality in the labour market, and examples of mainstreaming in public policies.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
