This act lays down a general framework for the protection and promotion of gender equality as fundamental values of the Republic of Croatia. It is aligned with the provisions of international rules in force, as well as the European directives related to gender equality. It regulates the method of protection from discrimination on grounds of sex and establishment of equal opportunities for women and men. The act notably defines the terms of gender equality, direct and indirect discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment as well as the main fields in which it applies (employment and occupation, education, political parties).
