This study sheds light on several crimes committed against women and girls in the family framework in Lebanon. It provides understanding of the background and circumstances surrounding these crimes and the manner in which these cases are dealt with by the Lebanese judicial system. This study relies on analytical reviews of trial documents and transcripts related to cases ofmurdered women and which were tried in Lebanese criminal courts in order to establish a link between the private framework surrounding these crimes and their interaction with the law. The sample studied concerns the court proceedings from 66 family-related cases of femicide, which took place between 1999 and 2007.
