The Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) began on the occasion of the 4th World Conference on Women in 1995. It is an initiative held every five years to draw a world picture of the portrayal of men and women in the media. This report, conducted for the first time in the French-Speaking Community of Belgium, is based on a quantitative and qualitative analysis of Belgian newspapers and radio and television magazines in French. It notably shows that the average percentage of news stories written or presented by women journalists (35%) is slightly lower than the world average (37%).
