This study brings together the discriminatory laws and practices as well as acts of violence committed against individuals based on their sexual orientation and gender identity in all fields (employment, healthcare, education, family...). It sheds light on the states' obligations in terms of human rights and how international human rights law can be used to end violence and related human rights violations based on sexual orientation and gender identity with reference to the sources of the UN, regional organizations, national associations and non-governmental organizations.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
