This report analyses the trends in the use of social networks in the Arab world. Based on the data collected in 2011, it has observed Twitter and Facebook users in 25 countries and has focused on three main questions: What are the factors that explain the low use of social media among Arab women in comparison to men and women at a world level? What is the view of Arab women regarding the use of social media in relation to their needs? Can social media contribute to increasing the civil participation of women and favour their political and economic empowerment?
