The brochure describes the status of women in the different world regions according to progress monitoring indicators concerning the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals approved in 2000: to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger; achieve universal primary education; promote gender equality and empower women; reduce child mortality; improve maternal health; combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases; improve maternal health; ensure environmental sustainability; and global partnership for development.
