The survey reviews the philanthropic activities of European foundations, in particular the nature of their action, their priorities in terms of funding or the sectors targeted. In order to understand the extent and diversity of European funding aimed at women and girls, the research has examined 145 foundations – most of them independent or private – from 19 countries, pursuing different objectives. The survey has revealed the types of problems concerning women and girls thatarouse most interest among foundations with a view to fund allocation, and their approaches to tackle them.
