This survey conducted, by the Research Centre for the Study and Monitoring of Living Conditions (CREDOC in French), focuses on women who have taken full-time or part-time parental child-rearing leave. The parental child-rearing leave enables parents of children under three to reduce their professional activity or interrupt it; in this case, the job contract is suspended but not terminated, which guarantees job reinsertion, although not necessarily in the same position, after the parental child-rearing leave. The professional life of 3,000 women has been analysed in terms of their socioeconomic and professional characteristics and those of their partner.
