The report presents an overview of the electoral climate in Egypt and recounts the experience of several women candidates in the different election phases, as well as the challenges posed by the legal and political context. Over two years, Nazra for Feminist Studies has followed and supported 16 women candidates to the People' s Assembly, who had been registered on the lists of the political parties or were independents, in eight governorates of Upper and Lower Egypt: Cairo, Giza, Dakahliya, Asyut, Beheira, Minya, Kafr al-Sheikh and Aswan.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
